Killing Field? A Greater Free Roaming PvP Zone
Just entertained with this idea... wonder how feastible it would be to apply to GW. Basically, it would be a new area, a Killing Field Zone. It would be large, with open field and part tight maze. (kinda like the Green Hill and Catacomb of Pre-sear) There would be some spawning monster, but PvE would not be the main part of it (thus would not drop items or gold or exp, beside "in-field" items, describe later). This zone would support number people (maybe 40 and up?) that one are free to part or PK one another.
A more detail description of how would work would be: You take your character (PvE or PvP) to a outpost, and click enter (but won't auto team), and the comp will select the best zone for you. Since each zone can only support a limited amount of people, once that cap is reach, new enteries will go into another new zone. When you first enter the zone, you will spawn in one of several pre-desnated spawning spot. The spot will cover by some "force field", in which you can not attack another player if they are in this zone. This will have some wide radius, to prevent other from camping at spawning point. But in here, you can look for team mates and such (maybe a max of 4 player per team). Once you are out, you can go on to do "quest" (more on that later), or attack other player. When you start attacking another, your name would turn red, warning other they would be the enemy, and other attacking red name player would not turn red. (as well as show on radar red). Out side, you can still look for party, or turn on your party..
There would be several goals or quest in such zone, but the rewards would be only kept withing zone. One that I could think of would be the "DRAGON BALL HUNT!!!!" (yes.. I know the name sux... ) several object are scatter accross the map, some hidden in barrel/chest, some on monster (or monsters that have the keys). Goal is try to find them (maybe have 5 differnt ones, but 40 of them scattered). Once player have them, they could be traded, or steal (attacking and killing the team) When one team got all of them and present to a shirne, would get some reward. (maybe few gold and extra power boost while stay in the zone that lasted for 20 minutes), and so on. All those item will only stay in the zone, and disapper once exit. Other differnt type of quest/Goal can also be added. (like how many other Player you kills, how many reds you kill, Fedax quest... etc)
Beside mobs, also several other small "nutrual area outpost" that one can go hide if facing pressing PKer. While can chat normally, but reds are bar from the public communication beisde thier own party. (so a lone Whites can ask for Help if needed) This will make the game more communitive, helping or hindering one another, a break from typical PvE or PvP.
This is very much inspired by one of my old experience in L2 (tire of server shoutdown, lote people create new character in new server just for fun, lots low level people running around... some people start pking...and even group together to pk.. and than whites start group back to hunt the red... lots fun in very short time) Also as extansion of my old Communal Hunt Area Idea, but with more PvP emphasis. I won't expect this to be made, but does think it is fun if something like that ever was made. Try playing this senario in you head. What do you think?

sounds cool. I think it would be good to have something similar to that.
How about a new take on pvp like this:
You enter the outpost and hit 'enter team.' Then you spawn in a region, as either being the red team or the blue team. You all spawn at different places across the map. The aim i to find your teammates as quick as possible and then kill the other team. But, there are also monsters roaming the map which can make things more complicated. If you (your team collectively) kill a few monsters you got a moral boost up to a max morale boost.
To avoid teams not finding each other and matches ending in 'draws', as you play scenery and other creatures could slowly be removed from the map throughout and in the last 5-10 mins you would get arrows on your radar pointing to where the other team is (to avoid people just hiding)
Any draws are automatically counted as a loss for both teams.

and make it impossible for players to map/zone out of this, as I bet lot's of people would leave the second they spawn way away from their team, next to a monster

/signed, maybe this will get the pve crowd to enjoy the pvp scene a little more, because now it's either you have a right build in an elitist team, or you don't stand a chance, and it puts a lot of people off.

very good idea, even if only something like "the wilds" area in runescape if i remember right, you could attack other players freely?. im all about the peace and love between people but it'd be nice to actually face off against human players during play other than a "kill other team" in the arena's.

And don't ever say it would be like Runescape. We are not making Guild Wars like Runescape. Guild Wars is a GOOD game....

well...this is a great idea, but a free-for-all wouldn't sit well with the devs....make it more like a person spawns with an ally nearby, making it a 2v2, but with 8 teams. it's up to you and your teammate to come out on top.
that could be interesting....like a scaled down version of the old Tombs battles, before they changed them to 8v8...
this could be great fun, i'd like to see this implemented in the game.
